We are delighted to welcome the prominent world-leader in Dizziness and the Upper Cervical Spine, Dr Sue Reid from Sydney, Australia. This is the only UK date available for her one-day workshop. The workshop shall showcase her research-informed approach to assessment and management of the patient suffering with dizziness, upper cervical spine problems and concussion. This course is aimed at the MSK Practitioner with an interest in developing skills in headache and dizziness, plus, the sport medicine clinician involved in the management of concussion.
Course Content & Learning Objectives:
How to perform a physical assessment and treatment of the upper cervical spine (useful for headaches, neck pain and cervicogenic dizziness). This will be a hands on practical session.
Be empowered with take-home treatment techniques for cervicogenic dizziness, headaches and neck pain
Understand different types of dizziness: cervicogenic dizziness and how it differs from Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and vestibular problems, vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI) and cervical arterial dissection (CAD)
Concussion assessment and treatment: recently it has been shown that the cervical spine and the oculomotor system are implicated in concussion and treatment of them decreases the time until return to sport. Learn how to do this!
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is suitable for all musculoskeletal practitioners especially as physiotherapists become first contact practitioners. If you would like to learn or refresh the assessment and treatment of the upper cervical spine for neck pain, headaches and dizziness.
Sue completed her PhD and a research Masters on the identification and treatment of people with cervicogenic dizziness and pain, including the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness from other causes such as the vestibular system and vertebral artery. This has culminated in her consultancy work with the NSW Cricket Teams in Sydney. She has been published in international journals, written textbook chapters and presented and run workshops at many international conferences including WCPT, IFOMPT and the International Mulligan Conferences.
